This week marks the publication of Release by Elizabeth Dunk, a paranormal erotic romance collection including four novellas. Today we're getting a sneak peek at the first in the collection, which is Luisa's story, "Believing". You can find my full review of Release here.

From the Blurb:

Four stories of eroticism, strength, experimentation, and ultimate salvation.

Cursed after death to live in grey nothingness until they atone for their sins, four spirits have spent centuries doing good for others. Finally they stumble upon the true key to their salvation — because they hurt women in their lives, they’ll only find release by now helping women to become all they should be.

One by one, the spirits meet a woman and as each sexual delight unfurls, the grey nothingness disappears a little more. As the women find their happily ever after, they grant the spirits a chance at peace for eternity.

Follow the journey of four remarkable women — Luisa, Anna, Cara, and Jan — and the four spirits that set them on a new path to sexual freedom and boundless pleasure.

Excerpt:

Mark followed her into the hall. She stopped at the door to her bedroom and turned around. He leant against the wall and smiled at her.

‘I hope you don’t mind us staying,’ he said. ‘I can call a cab if you do. But Josh and Amy have had too much to drink to drive, and I can’t handle a stick.’

Maybe it was the bubbling tension of wanting the spirit, maybe it was the fact that Mark was nice, and cute, but the words bubbled up onto Luisa’s lips. ‘That’s a shame. I’ve always enjoyed handling a stick myself.’

Nice bit of innuendo, she congratulated herself.

Mark grinned. It was a very nice smile. ‘Nice to hear a woman admit it.’

‘I believe in being upfront and honest.’

He shuffled closer and she noted how wide and grab-onable his shoulders were. ‘I believe in that too. Which is why I should tell you I think you’re really hot.’

A thrill ran through Luisa. ‘I should reward your honesty by telling you that I think you’re very cute.’

He lifted his hand and stroked the back of his fingers down her arm. The lust pounding through her reacted with a roar of delight. ‘You know, I really can’t stay in the lounge room with Amy and Josh tonight. When they get a few beers into them, they get very horny.’

The thought of her friends having sex in her house before she did made Luisa annoyed. ‘Does having a few beers make you horny?’

‘When I’ve got a beautiful woman in front of me, having a drink as well, absolutely it does.’ His fingertips moved gently over her throat.

Luisa’s body tightened and began to pulse. Maybe she didn’t need the spirit to take care of her.

‘Then maybe you should sleep somewhere else,’ she said softly.

‘I’ve been worried about you going to bed tonight. What if we didn’t put that bed of yours back together properly?’

The sudden vision of her and Mark in her bedroom, on her bed, made Luisa’s blood heat. ‘It would be sensible to test it; to make sure it’s okay. But I shouldn’t do that alone.’

‘No, you shouldn’t,’ Mark said, then he leant in and kissed her.

It wasn’t as mind-blowing as the kisses of the spirit, but it was the nicest kiss she’d received from a real human male in years. She wrapped her arms around his neck and opened her mouth, enjoying the press of his tongue into her.

Then there was a massive crash from inside the bedroom. Luisa squeaked. Mark pulled away, cursing.

‘What was that?’

Luisa pushed open the bedroom door, and turned on the light. Her eyes widened at the sight of the bed, which had been put together, laying in a heap on the floor. The four posts had fallen onto the mattress.

‘Shit,’ Mark said. ‘If we’d been just a little quicker…’

That could have happened when they were lying on it, crushing them. Luisa shuddered.

‘What is it?’ Amy and Joshua appeared behind them. ‘Shit, Loo. Thank Christ you hadn’t gone to bed yet.’

‘You okay?’ Mark rubbed her shoulder.

‘I need another beer,’ Luisa said.

They trooped back into the lounge room and all drank another beer. Amy begged Luisa to come stay with them, but Luisa said no. Having spent the past few hours so in love with her house, she wasn’t going to let a little scare chase her away.

This time, Joshua decided they should go home. A taxi was ordered and Mark, having no real option, went with them. As they walked out, Mark reached out and slid his hand across her arm, lightly, making her body shiver. ‘I’ll call you,’ he whispered, his voice hot against her ear.

Luisa leant against her front door after they’d gone, arms wrapped around her waist. What a night, she thought. She’d kissed a guy she barely knew with her friends just in the other room, and then her bed had collapsed.

She went over to the bedroom to look at the disaster again and received a shock. The bed was fine.

She frowned, then shook her head.

‘Spirit!’ she called.

He appeared next to the bed, as perfect as he had been the night before.

‘Good evening, beautiful Luisa.’

‘Did you do this?’ She waved her hand at the bed.

‘Of course. Where were you going to sleep? You should be more careful when assembling furniture in future.’

Luisa leant against the door frame. ‘Thank you. It’s safe now?’

‘Of course. I’d never endanger you.’

‘No. Just arouse me to the point of screaming then walk away.’

‘There is a reason why I do what I do, Luisa, and it’s all for your benefit.’

Luisa walked into the room. Now that the shock had receded, now it was just her and her spirit, the lust that had been soaring through her veins started to bubble again. ‘You know what would really be to my benefit? A good orgasm.’

The spirit smiled. ‘I’m pleased to see you so willing, Luisa. That you’re embracing your sexuality.’

There wasn’t enough embracing going on in Luisa’s opinion. Amy and her other girl friends said getting naked would always get a man’s attention — she wondered if that were the same with the spirit. She reached for the bottom of her shirt and slowly pulled it up over her head. She dropped it on the floor and noted that the spirit was watching her intently, his eyes darkening.

With a smile, her shorts joined the pile. She reached behind her, paused a moment, then slowly unclasped and slid her bra off.

His eyes riveted onto her breasts and her nipples hardened under his gaze. ‘Beautiful,’ he murmured.

She turned around, gave him a coquettish grin over her shoulder, then slipped her panties off, bending over as she did so and then spreading her legs so he could see that her striptease had aroused her.

Then she straightened, sauntered over to the bed post and leant against it, arching her back so her breasts were thrust forward.

‘That’s my sexuality embraced,’ she said softly. ‘Now, how about embracing me?’

The spirit reached out and with one finger, traced around the edge of her left nipple. It was a simple, soft touch but Luisa shuddered as her body leapt toward preparedness for his invasion.

‘Poor Mark,’ he said. ‘To want this and be denied.’

‘Poor Luisa,’ she said. ‘To want this and be teased.’

He pulled his hand away and smiled, a deep, dark smile that promised this time, she wouldn’t be disappointed.
